Make your perfect nerikomi ceramic with unique design on your choice
Description
About the class: This is a class where we experiment with clay and color. Start with a slab of black or light clay and add small pieces of colored clay on top. Shapes, fragments, or simply random scraps can be deliberately positioned or scattered freely. Then we roll, press, and stretch the clay. Colors blend, spread, and create patterns that could never have been planned. Every piece of clay ends up with a unique surface. From that, we shape a functional piece such as a cup, bowl, or other simple everyday object that participants will later be able to use at home. The focus is on exploring, experimenting, and seeing what happens, rather than striving for perfection. Level: all skill levels Duration and timing: The class consists of a hand-building session approx. 3 hours. After the initial firing, we will cover your works with transparent glaze, giving you the finished piece in 5 weeks. Number of Participants: The workshop will be held in a small group of up to 8-10 participants. Enjoy personalized attention in our intimate class setting. How to prepare for the class: Consider wearing clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirty. We'll provide an apron and all necessary materials for each participant. Q&A and cancellation policy:
Our cancellation policy for Hand-Building Class (HB) & other: Full refund if cancelled at least 14 days in advance. For cancellations after this period, we may offer you the opportunity to join another hand-building class if we have available slots. Please note that cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled class are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. You may transfer the class/course to another person if you can't make it. Our studio is for adults. We allow children aged 14 and over to be accompanied by an adult, but both would need to book a place separately (except for Kids Clay Day where the recommended age of the participants is in the class description and depends on the class). We kindly ask you not to bring anyone who is not participating in the class or course, as our studio does not have enough space for comfortable waiting. If something happens to your work, don’t worry – we’ll always find a solution to remake or fix it together. We will store your work for up to 6 months after the class (date is marked on the bottom of the piece). After that, it will either be recycled or passed on to a new home.
