mcbw: Play with Colors

A playful clay workshop where you experiment with colored clay to create unique patterns

Description

About the workshop: This is a playful workshop where we experiment with clay and color — no rules, just curiosity. You start with a slab of black or light clay and add small pieces of colored clay on top. Shapes, fragments, or just random bits — you can place them carefully or scatter them freely. Then we roll, press, and stretch the clay. Colors blend, stretch, and create patterns you couldn’t plan. Each participant ends up with a unique surface. From that, we shape something functional — a cup, a bowl, or another simple everyday object that you’ll later be able to use at home. The focus is on exploring, experimenting, and seeing what happens, rather than trying to make something perfect. After the workshop, our studio team will cover your piece with a clear glaze and fire it for you. Your finished piece will be ready to pick up from our studio about five weeks after the workshop. It’s a space to play, try new ideas, and see how small things come together into something bigger. Level: all skill levels Duration and timing: The class consists of a hand-building session approx. 2.5 hours. Number of Participants: The workshop will be held in a small group of up to 10 participants. How to prepare for the class: Consider wearing clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirty. We'll provide an apron and all necessary materials for each participant. All classes are in English. The speaker also speaks German. This workshop is held as part of mcbw.

Q&A and cancellation policy:

Our cancellation policy for Hand-Building Class (HB) & other: Full refund if cancelled at least 14 days in advance. For cancellations after this period, we may offer you the opportunity to join another hand-building class if we have available slots. Please note that cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled class are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. You may transfer the class/course to another person if you can't make it. Our studio is for adults. We allow children aged 14 and over to be accompanied by an adult, but both would need to book a place separately (except for Kids Clay Day where the recommended age of the participants is in the class description and depends on the class). We kindly ask you not to bring anyone who is not participating in the class or course, as our studio does not have enough space for comfortable waiting. How to prepare for the class: Consider wearing clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirty. We'll provide an apron and all necessary materials for each participant. Gift Card: If you're interested in gifting this workshop, check out our Gift Voucher options. Our workshops occur monthly, allowing flexibility for scheduling. Perfect for birthdays or special surprises. Please note: Ceramics is a handmade process, and while we experience minimal issues in our studio, occasional imperfections can occur during production. If something happens to your work, don’t worry – we’ll always find a solution to remake or fix it together. We will store your work for up to 6 months after the class (date is marked on the bottom of the piece). After that, it will either be recycled or passed on to a new home.
